The Telegraph and many other national newspapers are speaking about potential cuts to the winter fuel payment .
The government are proposing to increase the qualifying age for winter fuel payments by 6 years making the qualifying age 66, along with this the government are looking to cut the payment received by £50 for new recipients and by £100 for existing members.
This cut combined with general rises in fuel bills will put a great strain on the UK’s older generations’ pensions. We at Energenie have some helpful tips that will help reduce your fuel bill worries.
- Energy saving lights, although the intail cost may be higher, the yearly saving will soon bring benefits!
- When boiling the kettle only boil the amount of water you need, it may be a small thing but your kettle is probably your most used kitchen appliance!
- Try to only use your dishwasher, washing machine or tumble dryer with full loads, two half loads will use more energy than one full load
